KID’S CLUB
A guide to Anne Arundel County child care

In addition to the wide range of private
and independent child care options
within the area, Anne Arundel County
offers several public options for parents
of school-age children.
The county operates 53 state-licensed
child care centers, the majority of which
are located within public school buildings.
Most of the programs are before — and
after-school care, but there is an early
childhood education center — South
County Recreation Center — in Harwood.
The centers offer morning care from
6:30 a.m. to the beginning of school and
from the end of school to 6 p.m.
While there, children can participate in
crafts, free play, and community service
projects, according to the county website.
Kids in the afternoon programming are
given a snack.
To qualify for the county care centers,
children must be at least 5 years old
by the first day of school and entering
kindergarten.
The fees for each location vary, but the
majority of centers charge $120 for morning care and $352 for the afternoon for
one child per month. The pricing varies
the more children from one household
are enrolled.
The early child care center offers full
and part-time pre-K care from 9 a.m. to
3 p.m. for children 3, 4 and 5 years old.
Parents interested in full-time care can
expect to pay $460 per month. Parents
interested in part-time care can expect to
pay $350 per month.
