Keeping it
United Way salutes The Baltimore Sun’s 2025 Hall of Fame honorees,
and the local leaders whose voices and power we amplify through our
work and partnerships:
The Changemaker Challenge provides
significant funding to fuel local
innovators with big ideas for social
change. In 2024, more than $500,000
was awarded to support the work of 30
individuals and groups, who also
received free access to The Lonely
Entrepreneur, a learning community that
provides resources and support to start
or grow a business.
Neighbors United is a resident-led,
grassroots community organizing
program that equips people with the
tools and connections they need to
drive the changes they want to see in
their neighborhoods. To date, this
program operates in five historically
marginalized or under-resourced
neighborhoods.
Young Men United is building the next
generation of local leaders who will
strengthen and diversify our
workplaces. YMU breaks down barriers
to education and earning power for
young men of color in Baltimore,
guiding them from high school to
college or job training and into a career
aligned with their dreams and goals.
Neighborhood Grants totaling more
than $3.1 million since 2021 support
nearly $780,000 was awarded to 80
Greater Baltimore organizations
working to strengthen our communities.
The people we serve across our region
are our heroes—we support each and
every one of these leaders of their own
lives by leveraging their unique
strengths, talents, and tenacity as they
forge paths to stability and success.
As we mark our 100 years of service to Greater Baltimore, we’re
focusing our work and fundraising on proven programs that build and
support local leaders at all levels. Your donation touches each of the
regions we serve: Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Harford, and Howard counties
and Baltimore City.
