11 to Oct. 3. Next up is “The Legend of
Sleepy Hollow” in late November. The
new year opens with a production of
“When the Hurlyburly’s Done,” which
follows a Ukrainian Theatre Troupe in
1920. The season concludes with “Much

Compass Rose, a professional teaching theater, is the only area theater with
an agreement to use equity actors. The
nonprofit offers classes and workshops.
The season begins with “You’re a Good
Man, Charlie Brown,” from Sept. 18 to
Oct. 4. A live radio show version of “It’s
A Wonderful Life” runs from Nov. 20 to
Dec. 5. After the new year is “Almost,
Maine,“ running from Jan. 15 to Feb. 7.
The season closes with “Godspell” from
March 5 to 21. New this year, the first
three shows of the season will be performed at the Annapolis Mall in the
Live Arts Maryland performance space.
The Kauffman Theater can be found
within Anne Arundel Community College’s Pascal Center for Performing Arts.
The AACC Concert Choir performs a
holiday concert in December. Plus,
AACC has a symphony orchestra, opera
company and a jazz ensemble. Other
groups, including some community
theater companies, also use the space
for their performances, at 101 College

Ensemble Galilei’s winter solstice
concerts have been a holiday tradition in
Annapolis since 1980. Led by Carolyn
Anderson Surrick, a viola de gamba virtuoso, the ensemble has traveled the
world performing music of the Renaissance and tunes from the Celtic tradition, mostly on replica period instruments. egmusic.com/home
St. John’s College’s King William
Players’ performances are free and
staged in Mitchell Hall’s Key Auditorium. New shows are announced each
semester. The college also hosts a free
Friday Night Lecture and Concert Series. Most Friday evenings during the
academic year, the community is welcome at a concert, lecture or theatrical
performance, beginning at 7:30 p.m., at

Live Arts Maryland is home to the
Annapolis Chorale and Chamber Chorus, the Annapolis Chamber Orchestra,
the Bach+ Consort and the women’s vocal ensemble Cantori. Performances
take place at Maryland Hall, St. Anne’s
Church and its cabaret space at the Annapolis Mall. liveartsmd.org
The Talent Machine has been
mounting youth theater productions for
more than 30 years. Accomplished former stars include Broadway veteran
Luke Smith, who appeared in the first
national tour of “To Kill A Mockingbird.” The theater is most active over
the summer but is making plans for “A
Jolly Holiday,” its annual variety show
that typically runs in December. It will

USNA Masqueraders are one of the
oldest college thespian troupes in the
U.S. Each year, the company performs a
drama, a musical and a midshipmen-directed One-Act Festival. Performances
are held at the Beaux Arts Theater in
Mahan Hall. The fall play will be “The
Mad Lover,“ a 1600s classic, that runs
Nov. 14-15 and 21-22. Highlights of the
fall semester music performances include the annual All Saints Day organ
concerts and Handel’s “Messiah,” at the
U.S. Naval Academy, 106 Maryland Ave.,

2nd Star Productions will mount
three musicals in Bowie. There are two
as-yet-unannounced musicals in September and February, and the season
concludes with “Mean Girls” in June, at
16500 Whitemarsh Park Drive, Bowie.
