A guide to parking in
downtown Annapolis

Historic downtown Annapolis is one
of the hubs of Anne Arundel County, for
visitors and residents alike.
Finding a spot can be tricky for the
first few times, so here is everything to
know about parking in the city.
PARKING DOWNTOWN
When parking in downtown Annapolis, visitors staying for several hours are
generally encouraged to park inside garages, while street parking is intended
for quicker stops. Generally, the garages
closer to the water are more expensive,
while garages farther out are more affordable.
There are four primary garages operated by the city of Annapolis: Mills Hillman Garage at 150 Gorman St., Gott’s
Court Garage at 25 Calvert St., Knighton
Garage at 1A Colonial Ave. and Park
Place Garage at 1 Park Place.
Signs are posted around the garages
with information on how to pay. Mills
Hillman parkers can pay by using the
Park Mobile app, texting a number available on a sign or scanning a QR code to
get a link. Parking fees must be paid
upon arrival.
For Gott’s, Knighton and Park Place
garages, parkers use Metropolis to pay.
Once set up, parkers just drive out to pay.
City residents can park for free for two
hours at any of the four city-operated garages if they apply for validations on the
Annapolis Parking website at annapolisparking.com.
Visitors can also park at Navy-Marine
Corps Memorial Stadium on Taylor Avenue when the Naval Academy is not
hosting games and special events. Parking costs $11 per day through Gate 5,
with shuttles going downtown.
The Maryland Department of General
Services operates the Calvert Street Garage at 19 St. Johns St. On the weekends,
the garage is free. Anne Arundel County
operates the Whitmore Parking Garage
at 37 Clay St.
RESIDENT PARKING
There are five special parking districts
in the city where residents must apply
for residential parking permits to park
their vehicles on the street. The links to
apply for the permits can be found on
the city parking website.
Annapolis’ Hillman Garage is renamed the Mills Hillman Garage in memory of Walter Mills, a civil rights pioneer.

For a household without off-street
parking, permits for the first car cost
$55. Homes with off-street parking pay
$75 to park their first car. The parking
permits last for one year.
PUBLIC
TRANSPORTATION
The city also has some forms of public
transportation through buses and shuttle
services.
The city’s free Magenta Shuttle runs
from West Street area parking garages to
City Dock.
The city has a bus system with three
lines, all connecting Eastport to the Annapolis Mall. The red route covers Admiral Drive and Hilltop Lane.
The brown route runs on Forest Drive,
and the Green Route traverses West
Street.
