ANNAPOLIS PARKS
Annapolis has several small parks and
end-of-street parks on the water, though
they generally don’t offer amenities such
as parking or restrooms. Waterfront park
locations include First and Fifth streets
at Spa Creek; Acton Cove Park, Amos
Garrett Park, Barbara Neustadt Park on
Monticello Avenue at Spa Creek; College
Creek Park on Clay Street at College
Creek; Davis Park on Fourth Street at
Back Creek; Horn Point at Chesapeake
Avenue, Lafayette Avenue at Spa Creek;
and Severn Avenue at Spa Creek. The
12-acre Back Creek Nature Park at 7314
Edgewood Road has nature trails, a
picnic pavilion and a pier for launching
small boats. The largest park in the city is
Truxtun Park on Hilltop Lane. It’s on Spa
Creek.
ANNE ARUNDEL
COUNTY PARKS
There is no entry fee for community
parks. Parking for Downs, Quiet Waters,
Fort Smallwood and Kinder Farm parks
costs $6 per car, per day. Places in the
county with water access include:
Annapolis Maritime Museum, 723
Second St., Annapolis. The museum’s regular hours are 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Tuesday through Sunday.
Carrs Wharf, 1001 Carrs Wharf Road,
Mayo. has a fishing pier on the Rhode
River.
Deale Wharf, 511 Deale Road, Deale.
Downs Park, 8311 John Downs Loop,
Pasadena. A wheelchair-accessible
pier on the Chesapeake Bay is open 7
a.m. until dusk. The park is closed on
Tuesdays. A $6 per vehicle entry fee
applies to all visitors.
Fort Smallwood Park, 9500 Fort
Smallwood Road, Pasadena. There’s an
entrance fee of $6 per vehicle.
Galesville Wharf, 4847 Riverside Drive,
Galesville. Small public waterfront on the
West River.
Jonas Green Park, 1990 Ritchie Hwy.,
Annapolis. Designated as one of the
state’s “free fishing” areas — no fishing
license is required to fish there. Open
from dawn until dusk.
Kinder Farm Park, 1001 Kinder Farm
Park Road, Millersville. Catch-andrelease fishing in four ponds for those
with freshwater or nontidal fishing
licenses. $6 per-car entry fee. Closed
Tuesdays.
Lake Waterford Park, 830 Pasadena
Road, Pasadena. Anglers need a freshwater fishing license.
Patuxent Ponds Park, 1081 Patuxent
Road, Odenton. Catch-and-release fishing. A freshwater license is required.
Patuxent Wetlands Park, 1598
Southern Maryland Blvd., Lothian.
Fishing on the Patuxent River, wildlife
viewing and small boat launch.
Quiet Waters Park, 600 Quiet Waters
Park Road, Annapolis. Includes a dedicated fishing spot on Harness Creek,
cartop boat launch, dog beach and park,
picnic areas, 6 miles of paved trails and a
playground. The park is open daily from 7
a.m. until dusk. Entry costs $6 per car.
Sandy Point State Park, 1100 E. College
Pkwy., Annapolis. State-owned park on
the Chesapeake Bay, a popular spot for
fishing and crabbing. Fishing is allowed
at spots along the shore, at a fishing pier
near the boat ramps and on a stone jetty
near the bridge. Summer fees are $5 per
person on weekends and holidays and
$4 per person on weekdays. There are
higher fees for out-of-state visitors. Fees
are lower in winter.
Shady Side Wharf, 4805-B Woods
Wharf Road, Shady Side. Fishing
available.
Thomas Point Park, 3890 Thomas
Point Road, Annapolis. Open from 8 a.m.
until 30 minutes before dusk. Fishing,
grills, picnic area, restroom and trails are
available.
Green Haven Wharf, 7660 Outing Ave.,
Pasadena. Has a fishing pier and a small
boat launch area on Stoney Creek.
Beverly-Triton Beach Park, 1201 Triton
Beach Road, Mayo.

TRAILS
There is plenty to do in Annapolis and
Anne Arundel County, whether you want
to hike, fish, picnic or just take in the
fresh air. Many of the state parks in Anne
Arundel include extensive trails, either
paved or natural, for hiking, power walk-
ing or bike riding.

Pirate Adventures on the Chesapeake is a family-friendly pirate cruise
