Plein Air Festival
JULY 1 Artists begin painting
during the Harford Plein Air,
a painting competition that
involves creating art in the open
air. The festival’s unique format
allows painters to work at their
own pace from July 1 to Sept.
12. Artists from all over the U.S.
are juried into the competition
through an application process.
The selected artists are invited to
paint various outdoor locations

their paintings to be judged
for prestigious awards. The
paintings are sold at a gallery
sale, with a portion of the art
sales benefitting the Maryland
